We released S Metronome, an app that calculates playing time from the time signature, tempo, and number of measures, and also works as an advanced metronome for mixed meter practice.
This app automatically calculates playing time from the time signature, tempo, and number of measures. It was born from a very practical need: in concert band settings, there were moments when we wanted to know how many seconds would be saved by cutting certain passages from a score.
Back then, that meant using a pen and a calculator. We thought it would be much easier if an app could handle it, and that is what led to the development of S Metronome. It was originally created to help with cut planning for contests and ensemble performances, but it can also be useful in many other situations.
Based on the data you enter for playing time calculation, the app also provides a metronome function that can handle mixed meter and section-by-section tempo changes. There is no complicated setup. Just set the time signature, tempo, measure count, and reference note value when needed, and the metronome responds flexibly.
With this app, even contemporary pieces with constantly changing meter and pops medleys with repeated tempo changes can be practiced individually before rehearsal.
accel. The highest priorities right now are an Android release and better support for tempo changes. The Android version requires a certain amount of cost and a lengthy review process, often 14 days or more.
Tempo-change support is technically within reach, but the design that fits the current app has not fully come together yet, so it has been postponed for now. If we want to honestly say that this app helps you practice through an entire piece, that feature matters a lot.
Because this is our first app release, there may still be unexpected bugs. If there is a feature you would like to see, an app you wish existed, or a problem you are dealing with, we would love to hear from you.
Your feedback will help shape future app development.
